I'm a Happy Snowman - Winter Song for Children

Winter is coming. And who is one of the most popular winter characters all children love? Yes, it’s a snowman! Since the times of the “Frosty the Snowman” cartoon and song the snowman has been very popular with kids in English speaking countries. I decided to write my own snowman song adapted for little children who only begin to study English as their second language. My song is called “I’m a happy Snowman” and you can listen to it in the video below.

Snowman Song Lyrics

I’m a happy Snowman,
Big and fat.
Here are my mittens,
My scarf and my hat.
I’m a happy Snowman,
Here is my nose.
I am all made of snow
From my head to my toes.
I am all made of snow
From my head to my toes.

Winter is a season when we can talk about many things with our children. The first thing is ,of course, playing in the snow. Here are some ideas and worksheets you can use during your English lessons.

Worksheet 1: This task aims at practicing the winter clothes vocabulary. Children should help the Snowman, the main character of my song, match the pictures of winter clothes with the letters they begin with. This is a very simple task which can be done even by preschoolers.

Farm Animals Song for Kids

Animals are always an interesting topic for children especially those of younger age. Animal characters have been surrounding kids since almost birthday. That is why farm animals are likely to be an exciting thing for kids learning English in your classroom. It’s always stimulating to introduce funny animals in the process of education and overall development of communication abilities. There are a lot of fun game opportunities to develop language skills and imagination.

Farm Animals Song Lyrics

It’s a wonderful day!
Let’s go to the farm!

Hi, little cow! How are you?
I am fine, thank you.
The sun is so bright. The sky is so blue.
The grass is so green. Moo, moo, moo.

Hi, little duck! How are you?
I am fine, thank you.
What are you doing there in the lake?
I am swimming. Quack, quack, quack.

Hi, little horse! How are you?
I am great, thank you.
Would you like some fresh tasty hay?
Oh, with pleasure! Neigh, neigh.

Hi, little sheep! How are you?
I am fine, thank you.
What are you doing next to the barn?
I’m waiting for my master. Baa, baa, baa.

Hi, little dog! How are you?
Very well, thank you.
Why are you looking up on the roof?
The cat is sitting there. Woof, woof, woof.

Hi, little cat! How are you?
I am fine, thank you.
Come here and play with me right now.
I’m lying in the sun. Miaow, miaow, miaow.

Hi, little hen! How are you?
I am fine, thank you.
Why are you walking there in the yard?
I’m looking for some grains. Cluck, cluck, cluck.

Hi, little pig! How are you?
I am fine, thank you.
Why are you shining like a golden coin?
I’ve found a real one. Oink, oink, oink.

Farm Animals Worksheets

There are, of course, some worksheets to remember farm animals in English.

Worksheet 1: The first task is to circle the animal that is different. This is a very simple worksheet for children who don’t know the ABC yet. That is why it can be given even in preschool. Ask older learners to find a different animal and explain their choice using as an example the following sentence:

This sheep is different because it has got a flower.

In the snow we can play
The whole frosty day.

We can ski, we can play with snowballs,
In the snow we can skate,
We can run, we can ride a snowboard.

Africa Song for Children

I think Africa is the most wonderful continent on Earth. The diversity of its landscapes amazes a traveler to the depths. There are deserts and rainforests, savanna grasslands and the snowy summit of Kilimanjaro. That’s why Africa inspired me to write a song for children telling about beautiful nature and different kinds of animals living there. You can use this song for English and geography lessons.

Here are the lyrics:

Refrain
Africa, Africa,
Faraway land.
Africa, Africa,
Miles of burning sand.
Africa, Africa,
Low scattered trees.
Africa, Africa,
Amazing herds of beasts.

1
Once I went to Africa
To see the wildlife.
The whole day the desert sleeps,
At night it comes alive.
Fennec foxes, ostriches,
Scorpions are there,
Oryxes, jerboas,
Caravans of camels.

Refrain
Africa, Africa,
Faraway land.
Africa, Africa,
Miles of burning sand.
Africa, Africa,
Low scattered trees.
Africa, Africa,
Amazing herds of beasts.

2
Savanna meets me with gazelles,
Antilopes and gnus,
Meerkats and hippoes,
And some zebras, too.
Elephants, rhinoceros,
Elegant giraffes,
Lions and leopards
Hunting in the grass.

Refrain
Africa, Africa,
Faraway land.
Africa, Africa,
Miles of burning sand.
Africa, Africa,
Low scattered trees.
Africa, Africa,
Amazing herds of beasts.

3
Then in tropics was my journey
Down the river Nile.
There live a lot of snakes,
And big crocodiles.
Pink flamingoes at the lake,
Thousands of birds,
Gorillas and colobuses,
Chameleons and frogs.

Refrain
Africa, Africa,
Faraway land.
Africa, Africa,
Miles of burning sand.
Africa, Africa,
Low scattered trees.
Africa, Africa,
Amazing herds of beasts.

Enjoy the song and lovely African views while watching the video:
