Welcome back to my ongoing project dedicated to helping young English learners explore the wonderful world of vowel teams through engaging stories, fun worksheets, and illustrated vocabulary charts! If you're new here, I'm an ESL/EFL teacher and content creator sharing my printable materials to support fellow educators around the world.

This is the third blog post in my phonics series, and today’s spotlight is on the vowel team “IE”. Just like in my previous posts on the “EA” and “OO” vowel combinations, I’ve created a complete printable pack filled with illustrated charts, matching and labeling worksheets, and an original reading passage – this time about two friends visiting a bakery... and a mischievous magpie!

Veterans Day Reading Comprehension (Free PDF)

I dedicate at least one lesson to every major American holiday. Even though my students learn English as a foreign language, I believe it is important for students to know more about the culture of the English-speaking countries. And since I focus mostly on American English, the United States’ holidays and celebrations represent a special interest for me as sources of teaching materials. When learning about American holidays, an English learner can pick up vocabulary from all areas of human life. According to my classroom calendar, the next major national holiday in the United States is Veterans Day. And I have some relevant reading comprehension materials to share with my fellow EFL and ESL teachers.

I have recently created another bunch of printable worksheets that offer elementary school students some fun activities to better memorize the English alphabet as well as learn basic vocabulary. These worksheets are good for non-native speaking kids who finished learning all the ABC letters as well as relevant words starting with these letters and they now need to strengthen this knowledge through activities. Using these printables, I'll ask my young students to circle pictures that start with this or another letter and help a mouse reach a piece of cheese through a letter maze moving from one letter to another in the alphabetical order. I'd like to share these worksheets with my fellow teachers from all over the world. You can find the links below to download them for free in printer-friendly PDF files. Telling Time on Clock - Rhyme-Based Worksheets

I designed a dozen printable worksheets based on my nursery rhyme that I had written to teach my young student to tell the time on a clock in English. The worksheets are colorful and child-appealing. They offer a super easy activity for kids who begin learning English and telling time.

Every worksheet has two text-and-picture parts featuring a four-liner of the nursery rhyme and a clock image part that should be cut out. The clock shows the time from one o'clock to midnight. The teacher asks kids to match a clock part with the correct text-and-picture part. The clock only shows the whole hours without minutes, so the worksheets can be used as one of basic activities at the start of learning time.

Tom is a little cat, and his master calls him kitten. Tom loves to play with a ball of yarn. He pretends to see a rat, he runs to catch it. He meows when he is hungry and purrs when he feels happy.
