Alphabet Learning Worksheets (Free PDF)
I have recently created another bunch of printable worksheets that offer elementary school students some fun activities to better memorize the English alphabet as well as learn basic vocabulary. These worksheets are good for non-native speaking kids who finished learning all the ABC letters as well as relevant words starting with these letters and they now need to strengthen this knowledge through activities. Using these printables, I'll ask my young students to circle pictures that start with this or another letter and help a mouse reach a piece of cheese through a letter maze moving from one letter to another in the alphabetical order. I'd like to share these worksheets with my fellow teachers from all over the world. You can find the links below to download them for free in printer-friendly PDF files. I hope my worksheets will help you organize fun English classes.

Vocabulary Building Worksheets: Three-Letter Noun Crosswords
It is impossible to teach English without classifying vocabulary into groups of words by topic, part of speech, spelling rules and whatnot. By doing so, ESL teachers introduce small and digestible chunks of vocabulary that students can easily remember and use in their communication. I’d like to share an idea of introducing some of easy three-letter nouns to kids in order to help them build and expand their active vocabulary from early years of studying English.
I have created a series of vocabulary building worksheets featuring as many as 80 three-letter nouns. These English words are small and simple enough even for beginners to remember them in no time. The nouns I introduce are also frequently used ones, so, when memorized, they will constitute a solid part of students’ active vocabulary.
The list of three-letter nouns featured in my worksheets includes the following words: ant, ape, arm, art, axe, bag, bat, bed, bee, bib, bow, box, boy, bug, bus, can, cap, car, cat, cow, cup, dog, dot, ear, egg, eye, fan, fin, fly, fox, hat, hay, hen, hut, ice, ink, jam, jar, jet, jug, key, leg, lip, log, man, map, mat, mop, mug, net, nut, oil, owl, pan, paw, pea, pen, pet, pie, pig, pin, pot, ram, rat, rod, saw, sea, sun, tap, tea, tie, toe, top, toy, van, vet, web, wig, yak, zoo.
I have designed the set of printable worksheets that helps students memorize the three-letter words through a variety of assignments including crossword puzzles, word search puzzles, word to picture matching and others.
With this blog post I’m starting to publish the series of vocabulary building worksheets, flashcards and games I use to teach English to kids. I hope ESL teachers from all over the world will find my teaching materials good enough to be used for their English classes too. The first post dedicated to vocabulary building exercises features three-letter nouns crossword puzzles.

700+ Printable English Flashcards: Nouns
I’m happy to present you my new set of English flashcards. It’s a huge collection including more than 700 English nouns. I used pictures that I had found to create English-Spanish flashcards. As I promised I would design bilingual flashcards for a bunch of languages. However I decided to also make English-only flashcards that would serve as a great tool to teach English to kids regardless of their native language.
700+ hi-res image-based flashcards covering nouns in 16 topics
Just like the above-mentioned English-Spanish flashcards, the English flashcards set includes the most frequently used nouns related to 16 topics:

Printable Sight Words Flashcards
Reading is a cornerstone skill for learning languages. However, teaching to read in a foreign language is a very complicated task for educators, and especially for those who work with little kids. It may seem like children struggle with reading even in their native language, let alone in English which they study as their second language. But, fortunately, most kids absorb languages very quickly as they frequently do at their age. It is the way their brains function as they start to discover the world around them. So many ESL teachers apply tried and true methods of teaching kids to read used by native language speakers. One of such methods is whole word method based on so-called sight words.

The method implies memorizing high frequency words (sight words) as a whole by sight. Kids memorize how words look and thus learn to automatically recognize them in texts. It is especially useful for words with non-standard spelling patterns such as “was” or “come”.

| List of sight words (Dolch words) introduced in the first grade |
One of the most popular lists of sight words was created by Edward William Dolch in 1938. He picked out 220 high frequency words from children’s books of his era. Those words should be easily recognized by kids for a better start to learning to read. They say that Dolch sight words cover from 50% to 75% of all words used in library books, school books and newspapers. It looks like a solid base for kids who learn to read in English as foreign language.
Color Coded Sight Words Flashcards
I tried to use sight words flashcards that I could find and download online. But the problem is that they all looked too dry and plain. Working with them is far from being fun for kids. So I decided to create my own set of printable sight words flashcards with the following benefits:
- Attracting attention due to an unusual shape of cards
- Color coded flashcards to help kids learn word order in English sentences
- Sight word nouns with corresponding image flashcards
- Interactivity and gamification
