Vocabulary Cards: Compound Words
Teaching compound words can be another fun way to help young students expand their English vocabulary at early stages of studying the language. I use printable compound word cards to introduce some basic vocabulary to kids. The cards show what parts the compound word is made up of. These printables make it interesting for beginner English learners to see how two words merge into a single word and how the meaning of this new noun reflects the attributes of the things the merged words represent. Introducing compound words this way is memorable for preschool and elementary school students and thus helps children memorize the vocabulary pretty fast. The design of the cards allows for using them for a variety of matching activities which adds even more fun to learning compound words.
My collection of printable cards introduces the following 20 closed compound words: armchair, butterfly, catfish, cupcake, earring, fireman, football, jellyfish, lighthouse, lipstick, pancake, rainbow, raincoat, scarecrow, seahorse, snowball, snowman, starfish, sunflower, toothbrush.

Printable Halloween Flashcards: Spooky Characters
I start sharing my collection of printable materials designed to teach Halloween vocabulary with a bunch of colorful flashcards featuring some spooky Halloween characters. The flashcards serve as visual aids to introduce the following vocabulary: alien, devil, Frankenstein’s monster, ghost, monster, mummy, pirate, skeleton, troll, vampire, werewolf, witch, zombie. Although, I call them spooky, I used the cutest images I could get to design the flashcards. So they are great to use for teaching English to children of all ages. Even the youngest won’t be scared, but instead will have fun learning the Halloween characters.
My Halloween kit includes 39 printable flashcards along with worksheets and games. I will be sharing more printables from this kit in my future blog posts. I hope my fellow EFL and ESL teachers and their students will enjoy using my Halloween flashcards, games and worksheets for their English classes.

English-Chinese Flashcards: Pets
I continue sharing my large collection of printable English-Chinese flashcards. I have already created five posts dedicated to English-Chinese flashcards featuring wild animals. Now, it’s time to share pets flashcards.
My printable flashcards use simplified Chinese and therefore they can serve as a great resource for EFL and ESL teachers working with kids in mainland China (people in Hong Kong and Taiwan mainly use traditional Chinese, so my flashcards may be not good for those regions).

Printable Flashcards to Learn 92 Irregular Verbs
Irregular verbs are considered to be one of the most challenging English grammar aspects especially for non-native speakers who start learning the language. This is why I have to return to the subject of irregular verbs now and then to help my students retain all the verb forms in their memories. Although I have plenty of grammar books, worksheets and other materials such as printable puzzles for teaching irregular verbs, there seems to be never enough resources for this incredibly hard part of the English language. It is especially true when it comes to teaching English to small kids who are very reluctant to memorize boring stuff. So, trying to make the process of learning irregular verbs more fun, I have designed a set of colorful printable flashcards.
I have created irregular verbs flashcards that incorporate the base form, simple past and past participle of the verbs along with relevant pictures helping form the association between words and their meaning. Since the majority of people are visual learners, I thought the visually appealing flashcards would help me effectively teach even the most boring grammar stuff to young students. Teachers using these flashcards can also cut off the simple past and past participle part to use it for some matching activities in the classroom. The flashcards are rather large and can be easily printed on A4 paper sheets or bigger formats if needed.
My collection of images allowed me to create flashcards to learn 92 irregular verbs. Here is a list of all of them: be, beat, become, bite, blow, break, bring, build, burn, buy, catch, choose, come, cost, cut, dig, dive, draw, dream, drink, drive, eat, fall, feed, feel, fight, find, fly, forbid, forget, freeze, get, give, go, grow, hang, have, hear, hide, hit, hold, hurt, know, lead, learn, leave, lend, let, lie, lose, make, mean, meet, pay, put, read, ride, ring, rise, run, say, see, sell, send, sew, shake, shine, shoot, show, sing, sink, sit, sleep, slide, smell, speak, spend, spread, stand, steal, sweep, swim, swing, take, tell, think, throw, understand, wake, wear, win, write.
I will be publishing my irregular verbs flashcards on my blog in the form images. My fellow EFL and ESL teachers and parents are welcome to use them for English classes. If you need high resolution printer-ready PDF version of this set of flashcards, you are welcome to buy it here.

Big Printable Alphabet Letters (A to E)
Once I had to teach my English class in a larger-than-usual classroom, and I realized that ABC flashcards I had were not big enough for all kids to clearly see them from anywhere in the room. So I decided to design large printable alphabet letters for demonstration purposes. The original target size was A4 paper format. However, the final resolution of these ABC flashcards proved to be large enough for printing on A3 paper sheets, so I was able to create English alphabet posters to decorate my classroom whenever I had a lesson dedicated to this or another letter. Unfortunately, this blog platform does not allow sharing the full resolution images. So my fellow teachers can use the printable ABC letters published here to print them out on A4 paper sheets or those of other similar sizes. If anyone needs extra high resolution alphabet letters for enhanced printing quality or larger format printing, they are welcome to buy the premium PDF-based version.
I’ve also noticed that my big ABC letters are good for teaching the English alphabet to my online students. The bigger the letter, the clearer they can see it through a not-always-perfect video connection. In order to make the alphabet cards look less boring, I have added some pictures of animals, people and objects starting with the letter to each corresponding flashcard.
| The PDF file has enough resolution for high quality printing on A3 size paper sheets. |

As a rule, I design flashcards with a cut-out part to separate a word from the corresponding picture. This allows me to organize some simple word-to-picture matching exercises from time to time. I will be creating individual blog posts sharing my printable flashcards for each of the following animal types: African animals, Australian animals, farm animals, pets, polar animals, sea animals, birds, insects. I want to start sharing printable animal flashcards with those featuring polar animals. The flashcards are good for introducing the following vocabulary: arctic fox, orca (killer whale), narwhal, penguin, polar bear, seal, snowy owl, walrus.
