Printable African Animals Dominoes

Dominoes is an easy game that can be used to teach English even to the youngest students. This is why I design printable domino cards to play with kids when strengthening new vocabulary. The game offers a challenge that is easily solved by the majority of children thus leaving them proud of their achievement and experiencing some positive emotions. Every teacher knows that positive emotions in the classroom are extremely good for students’ memory and desire to learn. I also do my best to design bright and colorful domino cards to make English learning experience even better for my precious little students. I usually use the domino game along with the bingo game to gamify my teaching process and make it more effective with young English learners. Such activities bring a lot of fun to my classroom.

Since animals belong to one of the major topics with a large vocabulary to be learned, I have created as many as 162 printable domino cards (including a few for British English variations of some animal names) to help kids memorize animal names through playing individually and in groups. I designed the game in such a way that a teacher could offer students to match animal pictures with their names within certain groups of animals (African animals, Australian animals, polar animals, pets, farm animals, sea animals, forest and jungle animals, birds, insects) as well as for the entire vocabulary I based the printable animal kit on.

Printable Animals Bingo Game

The late stages of learning vocabulary for this or another topic is the most fun time for kids in my classroom as we start playing games. I usually design printable cards for bingo and domino games. Those games help my students retain the vocabulary in their memories for a long time through repeating the words they learn and using them in gaming activities.

The latest collection of printable worksheets, flashcards and games that I have designed is dedicated to animals. So, I’d like to share a few bingo cards created to teach some 100 names of animals to young students learning English as a second or foreign language.

Animals Word Search Worksheets

Word search puzzles are another type of worksheets that help English learners focus on new vocabulary and spelling of important words on the topic. I use such printable worksheets to offer my students some challenging word search activities when they have already learned the vocabulary and need to strengthen it to ensure learn-term memory. Printable Polar Animals Flashcards

I use flashcards a lot for my English classes. Especially when I introduce new vocabulary to my students. I design my own printable flashcards and try to make them as bright and interesting as I can in order to grab kids’ attention and thus help them better memorize new words. I have created as many as 135 colorful flashcards featuring animals. They help me introduce more than 100 names of animals in English. As a rule, I design flashcards with a cut-out part to separate a word from the corresponding picture. This allows me to organize some simple word-to-picture matching exercises from time to time. I will be creating individual blog posts sharing my printable flashcards for each of the following animal types: African animals, Australian animals, farm animals, pets, polar animals, sea animals, birds, insects. I want to start sharing printable animal flashcards with those featuring polar animals. The flashcards are good for introducing the following vocabulary: arctic fox, orca (killer whale), narwhal, penguin, polar bear, seal, snowy owl, walrus.

Animals Crossword Puzzles

Whenever I teach new English vocabulary to my students, I offer them some crossword puzzles to help kids memorize spelling of important words on the topic. Figuring out clues and writing them down on paper by hand is indeed good for long-term memory. So I have designed 20 printable crossword puzzles (including 4 for British English vocabulary) to help children easier memorize the spelling of more than 100 names of animals in English. I spent a couple of months to create my currently biggest kit of printable worksheets, flashcards and games dedicated to one of the major topics ESL teachers introduce to kids starting from the kindergarten age. The topic is animals.

I have already published my songs about animals (such as Arctic Animals Song, Forest Animals Song, and Sea Animals Song) along with some printable worksheets, clip arts and other teaching materials. A lot of my printables such as letter tracing worksheets and coloring pages feature animals. It is never enough animals when teaching English to kids. There are so many children’s books, songs, movies and other entertainment and educational stuff featuring animals that those creatures became the number one topic whenever an educator wants to teach kids something. And young students truly love animals. Who doesn’t really? Animals are fun! If you want a kid to memorize something for as long as possible, make sure to involve a cute and fluffy creature into the learning process. Use pictures of animals, books and songs about them, animal puppets or even bring a small pet to the classroom. Lots of positive emotions and thus enhanced memory are guaranteed whenever animals are involved for educating kids.
