Free Halloween Coloring Pages for Kids: Learn English Through Coloring – Part 2

Halloween is one of those times of year when even a simple English lesson can become a little more exciting. 👻🎃

When I work with young English learners, I always try to find ways to make new vocabulary feel less like something they have to memorize and more like something they can see, hear, say, and use.

That's the idea behind this new set of free Halloween coloring pages for kids. I created these pages especially with young ESL and EFL learners in mind, combining simple Halloween illustrations with some of the most familiar words children are likely to encounter during this fun season.

This time, each coloring page focuses on one key English word. The word is large, clear, and easy to color, so children don't just look at the vocabulary — they actually interact with it.

Halloween can be a great excuse to bring a little seasonal fun into an English lesson, especially with younger learners. 🎃

Today I'm sharing 5 free printable Halloween coloring pages for young English learners. They feature friendly little monsters exploring colorful autumn forest scenes, but these aren't just ordinary coloring sheets. Printable Halloween Worksheets, Flashcards and Games

Halloween is the closest major holiday that many English teachers dedicate their lessons to. The uniqueness of this holiday provides not only for a lot of fun activities in the classroom, but also for an opportunity to introduce the vocabulary that educators usually avoid when working with young students. This is when kids can learn some negative connotation albeit useful words such as coffin, cemetery, tombstone and so on. So I decided to design a set of printable flashcards, worksheets and games dedicated to Halloween in order to offer my young students some spooky fun and help them expand their English vocabulary in an uncommon topic.

Traditionally, my printable kit includes four types of worksheets, a bunch of colorful flashcards and two games. The kit is designed to introduce more than 30 words related to the celebration of Halloween. The full vocabulary includes the following words: alien, bat, black cat, bones, candy, cauldron, cemetery/graveyard, coffin, costume, devil/demon, Frankenstein's monster, ghost, gravestone/tombstone, haunted house, jack-o'-lantern, monster, moon, mummy, owl, pirate, potion, pumpkin, skeleton, skull, spider, spider web, troll, vampire, werewolf, witch, witch’s broom, witch’s hat, zombie.

This Scary Night – Halloween Song for Kids

Halloween is coming! This holiday is not only for ghosts and monsters but also for little kids. This is a joyful time of singing and sweets. That’s why I wrote a special song for this day about spooky spirits and wicked witches. This song is very optimistic. It tells, of course, about evil creatures gathering to their feast, but it also stresses happy feelings among children in spite of all their fears. I hope this song will help you create a merry atmosphere in your classroom as well as help kids overcome all their fears.

Halloween Song Lyrics

It’s Halloween, it’s Halloween,
The ghosts are flying in the wind,
There is no light,
Only pumpkin’s bright,
Oh, this night, this scary night.

There are witches in the air,
Evil spirits everywhere,
Creepy monsters walking by,
Gloomy moon is in the sky.

It’s Halloween, it’s Halloween,
The ghosts are flying in the wind,
There is no light,
Only pumpkin’s bright,
Oh, this night, this scary night.

Fancy dresses we have on,
Trick or treating time! Come on!
Give us sweets and bubble gum,
We are ready for some fun.

It’s Halloween, it’s Halloween,
The ghosts are flying in the wind,
There is no light,
Only pumpkin’s bright,
Oh, this night, this scary night.

Here are also some worksheets to remember the Halloween vocabulary.

Worksheet 1: This is a counting worksheet for children to count all the evil creatures and match the quantity with the number. There are two variants of this task. The first one presents numbers as numeric symbols, while the second one gives them as words.
