Fruits and Vegetables Bingo Game

Playing games is the happiest pastime for every kid. That’s why I use games for my English classes to consolidate the vocabulary at the final stage of learning a topic. Bingo is one of my students’ favorite games. The game makes them very excited about the chance of being a winner. This excitement generates the thrill of competition and lots of emotions. People tend to better remember things that involve emotions. No doubt, such games help English learners retain the vocabulary in their memories for a very long time if not forever. If you are teaching English names of fruits, vegetables, berries and nuts then you are going to love my printable fruits & vegetables bingo game.

The kit includes flashcards, 4 types of worksheets, dominoes and bingo game

I publish only five bingo cards here. The whole fruits and vegetables kit has different types of printable fruits and vegetables worksheets, flashcards, domino cards and 15 bingo cards that can be used with larger groups of students.

Fruits and Vegetables Worksheets: Picture to Word Matching

I usually create two types of matching worksheets for my students: picture to word matching and word to picture matching. I have already published the word to picture matching worksheets. Today I’d like to share the other type of such printable handouts designed to learn fruits and vegetables vocabulary.

The kit includes flashcards, 4 types of worksheets, dominoes and bingo game

These worksheets suggest matching a picture of a fruit, vegetable, berry or a nut to the correct word out of three options. This activity helps kids memorize English names of fruits and vegetables introduced during previous lessons. By the way ESL and EFL teachers can use my colorful flashcards for initial lessons when they present new words on the fruits & vegetables topic.

Fall / Autumn Flashcards and Vocabulary Cards

As we are getting closer to the end of fall I'd like to share some fall / autumn flashcards for fellow ESL teachers to use during the last month of the season.

I really like this time of the year where I live. It's pretty much colorful and the weather is quite enjoyable. I's neither hot nor cold and the trees are bright with red, yellow and brown leaves. So fall / autumn is definitely worth dedicating a lesson or two to learn some English vocabulary related to the season. I hope my flashcards will help you to prepare some quality lessons dedicated to fall / autumn and related holidays such as Thanksgiving.

Crochet Vegetables

After I created my “Vegetables Song” I thought it would be a great idea to offer an educational kit to go with the song. I love crocheting and I’ve got an idea to create a series of handmade vegetables which I would gladly sell to teachers, mothers or anyone who loves crocheted toys.

I thought that creating tangible child-appealing toys accompanying my song videos, experience sharing and images I create for my articles here would be a unique and attention-grabbing feature of my blog. You can see pictures of my crochet vegetables below. They are available for purchase for only $150  for the entire set of 11 crochet toys that can be used both for education and decoration purposes.

All the vegetables are made of high quality hypoallergenic acrylic yarn and stuffed with polyester fiberfill, so it is easily washable by hand and even machine washable on the delicate program. They are safe for your children and pets because they have no small parts to choke with. I crocheted these toys using my original pattern. Please, pay attention that since these toys are hand-crafted items your vegetables may be a little different in measurements and color from those in the picture.

This set of crocheted vegetables includes all the veggies mentioned in my Garden song, and namely:

  • carrot
  • cabbage
  • tomato
  • potato
  • pumpkin
  • cucumber
  • eggplant
  • corn
  • onion
  • beet
  • pepper

Cucumber Paper Crafts

Today I would like to present a cucumber paper craft which can be used in connection with many topics while learning English. You can speak with your pupils about wholesome food because cucumbers are considered to be very healthy and refreshing. Ask your pupils to remember what they know about this vegetable. Give them the information that cucumbers consist of 95% water. It means that we should eat these yummy green vegetables during hot summer days to keep ourselves hydrated. In winter preserved cucumbers, or pickles, are also used in many countries of the world as a wonderful component in winter dishes. So cucumbers are very important vegetables full of vitamins and microelements necessary for our body.

Summer brings us a lot of tasty and healthy vegetables. It’s one of interesting topics for young English learners to discover. That’s why I made my best to present it in an attractive and children-appealing way. This catchy song and funny cartoon characters will help children learn easy and quickly how vegetables are called in English.
