Fruits and Vegetables Word Search Puzzles
Word search puzzles help English teachers get the vocabulary into students’ memories. I have created a few printable worksheets featuring word search puzzles designed to learn some 50 names of fruits, vegetables, berries and nuts. You can find the full list of words students can learn on the topic with the help of my worksheets here.
The kit includes flashcards, 4 types of worksheets, dominoes and bingo game
When students are trying to match pictures of fruits and vegetables with the hidden words in word search puzzles, they train their spelling, learn to recognize words and develop concentration skills. I do my best to design colorful word search puzzle for every major topic we learn in the classroom. My students love such challenging activities. And I love them too as, being challenging, such puzzles are conducive to memory retention.

English-Chinese Flashcards: Wild Animals. Part 1.
It is time to start sharing my collection of printable English-Chinese flashcards. I would like to begin with the cards featuring wild animals.
Animals are a popular topic for English classes for kids. Lots of children’s stories feature animals. There are many cute toys in the form of animals that kids love so much. So kids get acquainted with animals from the earliest ages. That is why ESL teachers introduce the animals vocabulary to preschoolers and elementary school students to begin learning English.

English-only flashcards are available hereChina has become one of the most popular destinations for English teachers looking for job opportunities abroad. Being a fast developing economy, China badly needs as many citizens who can speak decent English as possible. English is today’s lingua franca spoken by people from all over the world to establish trade relationships. As a leading economy, China has to be serious about all things that propel the country’s trade including, of course, English fluency of Chinese people. That’s why they eagerly invite educators from English speaking countries to China.

English Spanish Flashcards
An ESL teacher from Mexico sent me a message once asking whether I was interested in making English-Spanish flashcards to help educators in Spanish-speaking countries teach English to kids. Being an ESL teacher myself, I loved the idea of bilingual flashcards. So I decided to create a series of printable bilingual flashcards starting with the English-Spanish ones as a tribute to the Mexican teacher who gave me this wonderful idea.

Spanish is a great language to focus on when starting my cause of creating bilingual ESL materials for teachers all over the world. It is estimated that there are some 480 millions of native Spanish speakers which makes Spanish the world’s second most spoken native language. The geography and economic connections of the majority of Spanish-speaking countries dictate make learning English a strategic necessity for their population as their English-speaking neighbors are their major trading partners and sources of tourists. In many cases the ability to speak English can be vital for people’s career in such countries as Mexico. The United States is Mexico’s biggest trading partner buying almost 80% of total Mexican exports. The number 2 trading partner is another English-speaking country — Canada. The USA is the top trading partner also for Colombia, Ecuador, Guatemala and some other Hispanic countries of Latin America.

Matching Words to Numbers Flashcards
English numbers and counting are some of the earliest topics introduced to kids by ESL teachers.
I have created a set of printable flashcards for fellow English teachers to use when teaching numbers. These flashcards will help make English classes more fun for kids and gamify a little bit their learning experience. Cards like these create a challenge. And a challenge is a well-known catalyst for memorizing words.
Each flashcard consists of two detachable parts. The upper part has a number in digits, and the lower part has the same number in words. Children are supposed to match the two parts and connect them into a single card.
There are flashcards with numbers 1 - 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 90, 100.

Alphabet Coloring Pages (Letters U - Z)
Studying a foreign language often starts with the ABC. Introduction of the alphabet to kids opens the doors to the new language for them. So ESL teachers should make sure children have an enjoyable experience with English from their first steps when they start getting acquainted with letters. That is why fun activities are important for easing kids into the second language. Games, songs, colorful flashcards, coloring pages and interesting worksheets can help little students love learning languages, and thus prepare their brains for less entertaining stuff they'll face while studying English as they grow.
It is extremely important that children's first encounter with a new language happens without too much stress and involving their favorite activities. We all know that preschoolers and early school kids love drawing, singing and playing since the time they were toddlers. No wonder all new concepts were introduced to them through this sort of activities. Therefore, introducing the English alphabet to them through coloring sheets is a smart idea.
This is the third and the last blog post featuring my printable alphabet coloring pages. This one contains the last 6 letters of the English ABC - Uu, Vv, Ww, Xx, Yy, Zz. I hope these coloring sheets will help English teachers make their lessons more enjoyable for little ones who are making their first steps in learning English language.

Printable ABC Puzzles
There is no better way for kids to lean English than through a game. Gamification is the key to success in teaching English as foreign language to young learners. Because learning something new can be boring for children unless teachers introduce fun activities into the classroom. ABC is one of the first steps in learning English. Little kids may have hard time memorizing letters especially if it is about the foreign ABC that looks very different from their native alphabet. Therefore children in China, Japan, Korea, Arabic countries need special attention when it comes to teaching English alphabet to them. All kinds of games and activities can help them better memorize the look of letters before they start writing them. So I have designed printable English ABC puzzles to help ESL teachers make letter learning more fun and exciting for their young students.
I have already offered another version of alphabet puzzles to ESL teachers in my recent blog post. But usually there is never enough teaching materials when working with kids as they are always looking for new games and activities. Their never-ending need to play is hard to appease without the entire arsenal of printable handouts. Of course, teachers can purchase ready-made flashcards, worksheets and games from Amazon. However such products can be expensive to supply larger groups of students with. They may also be too flimsy for elementary-aged kids who can bend them and rip them up very quickly. That's why printable cards and worksheets can be a good alternative to expensive cards sold on Amazon and other shops. You can print such cards yourself, as many as you wish, on thick paper or even laminate them if needed. And if one of cards or worksheets is ruined, you can re-print it instead of having to buy the entire kit again.
This new set of ABC puzzles do not feature images but focuses around letters. Each letter card can be put together with nine jigsaw pieces. The printable jigsaw puzzles include uppercase and lowercase letters of the English alphabet. Such puzzles can help teachers get kids busy when a little break is needed for a teacher or when a teacher needs to work individually with some pupils while others are doing a fun activity. The set of printable cutout puzzles will help kids easily memorize and recognize English letters.
I hope both kids and teachers will enjoy working with my printable ABC puzzles. Below are a few samples of cutout puzzle cards from the kit you can buy for $4 in my ESL shop.

ESL Game: Alphabet Puzzle
English teachers working with kids, especially with those who learn English as second language, have to face one of the biggest challenges a teacher has to deal with. The challenge is keeping young learners entertained while learning the language. Although little kids' brains are brilliant in memorizing things and absorbing a new language, it's extremely hard to make children learn something when they are bored. Their attention span is to short to focus on something boring. The traditional English teaching approaches used for adult learners do not work for preschoolers and elementary school student, let along toddlers whose moms want them to learn English as early as possible. Teach children like adults and you'll see them fidgeting and yawning throughout the entire lesson with almost no success in learning the language. So that's why ESL teachers have to resort to using fun activities, games, songs, colorful pictures and cartoons to grab kids' attention and create that atmosphere of fun and excitement where children's brains get ready to memorize letters, vocabulary and phonetics with and astonishing ease.
Unfortunately, all those games, flashcards, worksheets, songs and movies require a great deal of time, efforts and money for teachers to get or create them. I thought I'd create some teaching materials including printable worksheets and games to spare ESL teachers' time a little bit and let them take care of their personal needs besides getting occupied with their professional stuff.

Toys Song for Children
Today I have a wonderful opportunity to share my new ESL song with fellow teachers and parents. It's the Toys Song. Singing this song during English classes will help educators introduce the playroom and toys vocabulary to children and improve their grammar skills when using the verb to have.

Wild Animals Flashcards
Dear fellow teacher!
So here go the wild animals flashcards.
Let me show you one of my flashcard sets I use as a private tutor to teach English as second language to kids. This one includes wild animals flashcards. I actually love teaching English with the help of animal pictures and toys. Animals are the number one topic that can totally engage children into the studying process. After all the majority of their favorite toys are animals and their favorite cartoons feature animals. That’s why meeting animals during an English lesson is an exciting and fun event for little learners. And fun and excitement is something that makes them remember the moment forever while memorizing the presented vocabulary at the same time.
So I make sure my flashcards feature cute cartoony images and especially those created to help kids learn animals in English. I design three types of flashcards for each animal: the one showing an image of an animal and its name in English, the one showing a single image of the animal, and the one showing only the name of the animal. The flashcard with both the image and the word is used to introduce the wild animals vocabulary to students. The cards with a single image and a single word are great for vocabulary recognition and memorization activities. The activities can be as follows:
- Showing an image and asking kids to find the corresponding word among other words on cards
- Demonstrating a word to students and asking them to find the corresponding image among a few other image cards
- Asking children to match word and image cards
So here go the wild animals flashcards.

ESL Teaching Ideas in How to Teach English Infographic
My attention has recently been caught by an interesting infographic I would like to share with you in this post. The infographic was created by Kaplan International Colleges and it is entitled "How to Teach English". They interviewed ESL teachers to ask what they used to enhance their lessons in class.
As you can see from the infographic below the advanced English language teachers use all kinds of media ranging from popular music to video games to teaching English. I love the idea of using authentic and fun materials for my English lessons too. Of course, the infographic shows mostly what educators utilize to teach English to middle school and adult students but the key idea of making use of not only traditional teaching resources and academic textbooks but also products of popular culture and mass media remains applicable in the case of preschoolers and elementary school pupils. I also love using classic children’s books, online games, cartoons and mobile apps to teach English to my little son. New advances in technology and media availability offer teachers lots of things to leverage for better results of our educational work. Unfortunately it’s not that easy to use all the stuff mentioned in the infographic when working with a group of kids in a non-English speaking country, but I hope I’ll be able to experiment with some out-of-the-box teaching materials and ides in the course of my future ESL activities. Anyway I will do my best to implement my ELT ideas and share them here in this blog.
Please, let me know what kind of teaching materials you can recommend for teaching English to kids. Share your ideas, thoughts and opinions in the comments section below.
